We as designers always try to keep the user in mind while going through our processes. We talk to them, we ask them a question, and let them try out things. But not so long ago we started asking them to design with us. What if you want to do this with children? Children are often seen as harder to design for, as this younger target group has more difficulty explaining what they want and need. Children think very differently, but they have great potential to be co-creators. This is why we should extend their role to co-creators or co-designers. That is why coCreate was born. This allows designers to create with children in a fun, creative, and constructive way. CoCreate exists out of 3 parts: show and tell, reflect and create each of these parts focuses on different aspects. CoCreate will help give designers a methodology and materials to design with children. Use the creativity of children from the start, do not wait until the end of your process to involve them!
